Geistlich Bio-Oss® & Bio-Oss Pen®

Indications:

• Augmentation or reconstructive treatment of the alveolar ridge; Filling of periodontal defects.
• Filling of defects after root resection, apicoectomy, and cystectomy.
• Filling of extraction sockets to enhance preservation of the alveolar ridge.
• Elevation of the maxillary sinus floor.
• Filling of periodontal defects in conjunction with products intended for Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) and Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR).
• Filling of peri-implant defects in conjunction with products intended for GBR.

Geistlich Bio-Oss® has excellent handling properties and provides predictable results in daily clinical use:

• Before application, Geistlich Bio-Oss® is mixed with autogenous blood or a saline solution. Its hydrophilic properties promote rapid and complete hydration.
• Geistlich Bio-Oss® is easily modelled and adheres optimally to the walls of the defect.
• Excessive compression should be avoided in order to allow for new bone ingrowth.
• Subsequent application of Geistlich Bio-Gide®, a collagen membrane, enables undisturbed healing which leads to new bone regeneration.
• Geistlich Bio-Oss® can be used in composite techniques, mixing it with different types of growth factors, other bone substitutes and biomaterials.

Preparation of Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen® is quick and easy:

• Tear off the protective seal and unscrew the protection cap.
• Do not remove the red/green filter cap.
• Place the filter cap into sterile physiological saline solution or patient blood.
• Pull the plunger back and press down several times until Geistlich Bio-Oss® is completely moistened.
• Alternatively, use a syringe to inject saline or blood directly through the filter cap.
• Gently press the plunger to eject any excess fluid.
• Replace the filter cap with the curved applicator tip.
• Apply directly to the surgical site.

Geistlich Bio-Oss® is available in eight convenient quantities of small or large granules, which adapt easily to defect sites:

Small - granules (0.25 – 1 mm) – available sizes:

• 0.25 g ~ 0.5 cc
• 0.5 g ~ 1 cc
• 1 g ~ 2 cc
• 2 g ~ 4 cc
• 5 g ~ 10 cc

Large - granules (1 – 2 mm) – available sizes:

• 0.5 g ~ 1.5 cc
• 1 g ~ 3 cc
• 2 g ~ 6 cc
